Non-Woven Fabrics

Unidirectional Kevlar® is a new and easy to apply type of reinforcement. It consists of a non-woven sheet of unidirectional Kevlar® fibers that are held in position by a fine spider web of polymer fibrils lying on one or both surfaces. The special polymer used is compatible with epoxy and polyester resins. The fibril or web system that bonds the reinforcement fibers together allows the fabric to be cut easily, trimmed, or slit, giving clean edges with absolutely no fraying. The fibers lie flat and straight, and cannot shift or bunch up as often happens with uni-stitched fabrics.

Kevlar® tissue is an advanced non-woven Kevlar® fiber mat incorporating 100% Kevlar® fibers (approx. 1" in length) bonded together in a random fiber matrix. Kevlar® tissue is compatible with all epoxy and polyester resin systems. Kevlar® tissue is used to increase impact resistance and toughness. Kevlar® Tissue is not recommended for standalone use as a surface finishing material, since it has a tendency to fuzz when the epoxy is applied with a brush. We recommend bonding .58 oz. or .73 oz. glass over the tissue to obtain a very stiff and durable surface finish.
